LIKE CRAZY (2011)
Director: Drake Doremus
Runtime Ratio to Feature: 1:45
“I thought that I understood it, but I didn’t.” I went on what I believe is called a “lollercoaster” when that was how the trailer started. What I’m sure is a very poignant and appropriately sappy love film has lost me in it’s initial departure into the whimsical unknown. I am then given images of a happy couple enjoying themselves, who then struggle to maintain their relationship (between Santa Monica and London I think). At some point I think they will realize that both locations have ferris wheels and all will be well for a time.
This story looks altogether familiar as it resembles many, many, many, relationships, which I guess is why the studio assumes it will be profitable. That and it looks super indy, which is of course a big hit for romance movies for youths since it’s so “refreshing” and “new.” Hipsters will love it, and probably cry at it. I feel like I got the gist of it from this trailer.
Saving Grace: Anton Yelchin. After Star Trek, I just think he seems pretty damn cool.
What I Expect From the Feature: I expect the love of two young people to blossom into a beautiful and delicate flower before ultimately wilting into sadness and despair, from whence it shall be whisked up into newer blossoms.

Rating: I’m sure it’s lovely, I just don’t do lovely. 5/10
